The Verdon Line
Iris free-climbed a line up the Verdon's north face that she'd bolted, alone, over three prior trips.
Iris had been working this wall in pieces since 2021, coming back each summer to bolt another twenty metres and figure out the crux she couldn’t yet do. This was the send — four hundred metres, six pitches, shot from a separate rope-access line that took our climber-cameraman two hours to fix before she’d even started.
The hardest part of filming climbing this exposed isn’t the wall, it’s staying still enough on your own rope not to swing into frame. We lost one whole pitch to exactly that and had to talk her into re-climbing it the next morning, which she was, understandably, not thrilled about.
