The forecast was wrong, and it was better

Peahi doesn’t forecast the way most breaks do — the swell that mattered this January was a day early and two feet bigger than every model said, which meant our tow team and Danny’s paddle window were both wrong by the time we got there. We ended up shooting the paddle session almost by accident, from the cliff, with a lens that was really meant for a different shot entirely.

It’s now the piece we send people first. Plans are useful right up until the ocean disagrees with them.
